Kevin Durant’s move from the Golden State Warriors to the Brooklyn Nets is one of the most talked-about free agency moves this offseason. Although it wasn’t the biggest surprise that Durant went to the Nets, it’s still been extremely significant as he joined the franchise along with former Celtics guard, Kyrie Irving.
In a recent interview, Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks spoke about Durant’s decision to sign with the franchise. Marks says that the ultimate decision of KD was more about the way that the team plays and not as much to do with Kyrie.
“I love the system. I love how you guys play,” Durant said. “We could never take you guys lightly.”
Kevin Durant will miss the majority of the 2019-20 season due to his Achilles injury that he suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. When he does return, the franchise should become a true contender for the championship and a team that could easily find themselves as the benchmark team of the Eastern Conference.
In just three seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Durant won back to back Finals MVP awards and two championships. That may be a bit tougher to do in Brooklyn but if someone could achieve it again, it may be Durant.
